For parents

رَبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Rabbirhamhuma kama rabbayani saghira

My Lord, have mercy upon them as they raised me when I was small.

What this supplication is

The Qur'an's command to care for parents (17:23–24) is followed by this prayer: mercy upon them as they raised me small. It is the dua of the child who knows he can never repay his parents.

When to recite it

For living parents daily; for departed parents in their behalf at any time.
