بِسْمِكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا
Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya
In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
What this supplication is
The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught this before sleeping, framing sleep as a minor death in the name of Allah: 'In Your name I die and I live.' The morning's companion dua returns the theme — every night is a rehearsal for the final sleep.
When to recite it
On lying down to sleep, after the night's adhkar.
